Veteran Banner Project

The Veteran Banner Project, sponsored by the New Hanover County Veterans Council, is accepting applications from families and others who want to sponsor a banner celebrating the military service of their veteran or service member.

Banners will be displayed from utility poles in prominent locations in New Hanover County.

Veteran Banner Application

Use this form to apply for a banner for a veteran, active duty military member or reservist. After you submit the form, you will be taken to a confirmation page where you will have the opportunity to pay or make a donation by card or digital check. This program is endorsed by and managed by the New Hanover County Veterans Council.

Name of Honoree
Full name of Honoree as it should appear on banner.
Select the Honoree’s branch or branches of service from the drop-down menu.

    These documents will be used to verify details of the veteran’s military service. If those documents are not retrievable, a newspaper obituary detailing military service may be uploaded.
    List any appropriate medals awarded the Honoree. Examples include: Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart.

    The sponsor’s name or other name to be displayed at the bottom of the banner. Example: “Proudly honored by his wife, Jane Doe.”
    After you click on submit below, you will be taken to a confirmation page where you can pay by card or digital check. You also can mail a check for $175 to New Hanover County Veterans Council, P.O. Box 7975, Wilmington, NC 28406. Gold Star Mothers will be provided a banner at no charge. If you can’t afford to sponsor a banner for your veteran, the Veteran Banner Project of the New Hanover County Veterans Council will consider sponsorship funding requests on a case-by-case basis.
