Veterans Celebration

The Eagles Dare

The Veterans Celebration and Information Fair, presented by the Southeast North Carolina Veterans Parade, gives organizations with services tailored to veterans and their families a chance to talk with the veterans, families and supporters who turn out for the annual parade, held each year on the Saturday closest to Veterans Day.

The fair started in 2021 at Riverfront Park and was moved the next year to Second Street between Market and Orange streets.

This year the Veterans Celebration and Information Fair, set for Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, will be held at The Eagles Dare, a bar and event space at 420 N. Third St., (Third and Red Cross). It’s a former gas station with a bright ’50s vibe.

The owners are veterans who have a strong commitment to giving back to veterans groups and area nonprofits.

The Clams will play again and there may be other bands.

Groups and individuals who would like a chance to interact with and hand out materials to veterans and their families and supporters can register to bring displays and sign-up materials. Information tables can be set up outdoors, in front of the bar in a courtyard and the blocked-off parking lot.

It also may be useful to have a 10- by 10-foot canopy tent on hand. As always, table spaces will be first-come, first-served.

We can begin loading in at 10 a.m. on parade day.

Businesses that wish to participate are requested to become parade sponsors. Your donation entitles you to space in the official parade program as well as a place at the information fair.
